Gimota’s GM modular connectors provide flexible connection options for power, signals, and data—even under extreme environmental conditions, such as those found in rail vehicles. They comply with the most important railway standards, such as R22, R23 / HL1, HL2, HL3 of EN 45545-2, IP65 / IP67 and IP69 (high-pressure cleaning) in accordance with IEC 60529, and Category 2 (mounted on the bogie) shock and vibration testing per IEC 61373.
They are designed to accommodate various module types for a wide range of applications. This allows Ethernet to be combined with coaxial, fiber-optic, or power-carrying applications. They are available in versions with seven, four, or one module chamber. The modules are standalone plug-in units and can be inserted separately into the modular connector, complete with separate EMC protection and individual cable termination. The GM connector is codable.
Each module can have its own shield connection; the EMC adapters are available in three connection types: shield crimp, IRIS spring, or conical ring. The plug module and socket module together form a unit that ensures optimal 360° EMC shielding, independent of the other modules. This means that, theoretically, up to seven different shielding potentials can be routed through a single connector. Connection modules are also available for SC butt-joint contacts, high-tech optical lens modules (EB), or coaxial contacts. Each module is longitudinally sealed within its housing. The connectors are therefore ideally suited for use in driver’s cabs with elevated internal pressure on high-speed trains.

The GM modular connectors are circular connectors for outdoor applications, featuring a bayonet coupling. They have seven, four, or one module chamber for various modules. The modules are autonomous connectors within a connector assembly.

Codable
Coding is required to distinguish between multiple connectors installed side by side; therefore, the GM connectors with 7 and 4 module chambers are codable. Special coding pins are installed in the plug and in the receptacle housing. There are 8 possible combinations.
Unique Module Position
The individual module chambers are labeled with numbers. This facilitates the correct arrangement of the modules in the plug and receptacle. The modules feature special guide grooves. This ensures precise positioning of the modules within the module chambers.
The modules meet the requirements of Ethernet CAT 7A. The contacts are overmolded in pairs for better impedance. Each pair of wires is completely shielded from the adjacent pair to reduce crosstalk. The standard configuration includes 4 double contacts for AWG 23–24. AWG 26 is also available upon request. The modules feature optimal 360° EMC shielding thanks to spring contacts (grounding fingers) and individual cable termination.

The modules meet the requirements of Ethernet CAT 6 / 5e. They are equipped with 8 contacts (0.5 mm²) and 2 fillers. They feature optimal 360° EMC shielding thanks to spring contacts (grounding fingers) and individual cable termination.

The modules are suitable for use on the Wire Train Bus (WTB). They are equipped with 2 × 0.5 mm² contacts and feature optimal 360° EMC shielding thanks to spring contacts (grounding fingers) and individual cable termination.

The modules meet the requirements for Ethernet (max. 100 Mbit) per CAT 5e. However, they are also suitable for use on the Multifunction Vehicle Bus (MVB). They are equipped with 4 × 0.5 mm² contacts. They feature optimal 360° EMC shielding thanks to spring contacts (grounding fingers) and individual cable termination.

The modules are designed to accommodate 3 SC butt-joint connectors. The SC connector has a 2.5-mm ferrule, usually made of ceramic (metal versions are also available), and can be used for multimode and single-mode fibers.

The modules are available as 2- or 4-channel, multimode or single-mode versions. The lens connectors use a spherical lens to expand the light beam to a multiple of its original diameter. Thanks to this technology, the connectors are particularly resistant to dust, dirt, vibration, and other adverse environmental influences. Since the lenses do not touch each other, they achieve a long service life.

The coax modules are designed for use with the most common coaxial cables, as well as for special applications such as Wi-Fi or GPS signals. Modules are available for the following cable types and applications: RG58 / RG59 / RG179 / RG187 / Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz / GSMR / GPS / WLAN

The modules are equipped with two 2.5 mm² contacts and a ground contact. The ground contact is connected to the module’s metal housing. They are rated for a maximum nominal voltage of 200 V and a nominal current of 13 A, and feature optimal 360° EMC shielding thanks to spring contacts (grounding fingers) and custom cable termination.

The modules are equipped with size 16 contacts for 0.15–1.5 mm². They are rated for a maximum of 500 V nominal voltage and 13 A nominal current and feature optimal 360° EMC shielding thanks to spring contacts (grounding fingers) and individual cable termination. Modules with 3, 5, 6, or 7 contacts are available

The modules are equipped with size 20 contacts for 0.6 mm². They are rated for 200 V nominal voltage and 7.5 A nominal current and feature optimal 360° EMC shielding thanks to spring contacts (grounding fingers) and individual cable termination. Modules with 10, 12, or 14 contacts are available

Blind or dummy modules are used when not all module slots are occupied.
